Greetings Friends,
Today’s meditation is on the five aspects of breath.
Breath practices are found in all spiritual traditions and ancient and indigenous cultures, highlighting the thread of truth that the breath is the key to our awakening.
The breath brings life itself into our bodies through the source of spirit. The breath is how we connect with nature. It is how we are alive. It’s the foundation of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. As we bring awareness to our breath, we can begin to bring balance and harmony to our entire system.
The five aspects of breath are depth, range, scope or fullness, rhythm, and center.
When one of these aspects is not in harmony, it affects the whole of the breath and the whole of our well being. It is imperative that we breathe well by attuning these five aspects of the breath.
In attuning to the breath, we are attuning to Life itself. It’s not just that the breath brings us life — the breath is Life. It is this co-creative energy that exists in all things, it’s what unites our essence. Ultimately it’s all that exists. Nothing but the breath.
The breath doesn’t require our consciousness to move through us, but when we bring consciousness to it, its capacity for impact is heightened. Through the intention of healing, the healing power of the breath is there. Through the intention of compassion, the consciousness of compassion moves through the breath.
Bringing this consciousness through the breath powers up our energy system and sets the foundation to sustain that deep inner knowing of what we really are.
So let’s practice.
I hope you’ve found this mediation to be helpful.
Remember that just taking a few moments throughout the day to bring awareness to the breath and these five aspects of the breath can be powerfully helpful, giving you the capacity to bring who you are into the world.
Blessings to you all,
Chris
